Good news for the people of Santa Barbara, for the cost of a couple hundred dollars and $15 per month they can prevent health hazards and the doubling of the electricity bill.  Eventually all of California will be part of this extortion effort, approved and promoted by the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC).

Your choice is simple, per government–either allow SoCal Edision or PG&E to double your energy hosts and provide you with the opportunity for serious, maybe deadly illness, or pay for the right not to be sick and save money.

The CPUC will allow you to pay for NOT accepting their product.  It is like paying a monthly fee to Time Warner for NOT purchasing their cable TV package.

But, to get this far has been a victory.  Hard work and dedication by the Santa Barbara Tea Party & Culpepper Society has protected the citizens of their County and will be a stepping stone to their next action–to stop the extortion by government and crony capitalism.

According to Doug Malousis, manager of district readiness for SCE, who made the smart meter presentation to Goleta City Council this past Tuesday 2/7, 75 to 100 Corix trucks will invade Santa Barbara area to install smart meters starting later this month. If you or your neighbors, family and friends do not call and get on the Delay Install List, SCE says their installer – Corix – can and will enter your property and replace your safe, reliable analog meter.

3. Exercise your Rights -  Be Grateful for Opt-Outs
You have been empowered.  Consumers Power Alliance has been fighting for your rights with a superb legal team at the PUC.  We led the legal battle – at great cost – that secured the PG&E Opt-Out Ruling allowing retention and restoration of analog meters. It is expected that the PUC will order the same mandate for Edison.  A year ago, Edison refused to let us Opt-Out.  Now you have the right to Freedom of Choice. Use it.

4. Your House is worth more without a Smart Meter.
Protect your investment. People who know about smart meter hazards will not purchase a house with a smart meter.

Per SCE- ” SCE has a delay list in place. This means a customer’s smart meter installation will be postponed until the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) completes its regulatory process regarding opt-out.”

Wireless smart meters are being deployed by force in a rushed frenzy to comply with 2009 Stimulus Funding. They are not free. They are costing consumers +/- $300 per meter. Most are made in China. Unresolved hazards, eg: buggy grid technology, will make them landfill fodder within a few years. SMART METER INFORMATION IS WORTHLESS FOR CUSTOMERS

A professor gave a lecture in California and he explained how the concept of smart meter information, saving energy and reducing utility bills, is FALSE in practice.

The information from a smart meter is NOT real time (typically 18-24 hours old) and it is NOT formatted (organized) for a customer to improve current or future energy usage.

The utility companies through false advertising make people ASSUME that when they get the Smart Meter information it automatically assists them, but it does NOT.

The professor equated smart meter information to a gas gauge or a speedometer that only tell you how much gas you had YESTERDAY or how fast you were going YESTERDAY, worthless information for today or planning for tomorrow.

The smart meter does NOT isolate the individual usage amount of electrical devices for the customer and it takes time to sign up on their utility site and sign in to see information that does NOT assist you.

Anything that brings attention to energy usage can remind the customer to reduce their energy usage, but the smart meter, itself, is useless.

And smart meter programs at Millions and Billions of dollars (about $312 for each meter paid by the customer added to their bill) are a financial disaster for the people, a windfall for the utility companies.
