The world has gone crazy. All the people in Palmdale are allowed to vote for all the members of the city council. A court has stopped an election, less than 45 days before the voting, less then a few days before absentee ballots are cast. Why, because Palmdale is NOT a racist town. The judge the election stopped until the time the city sets up districts based on race so that the “right” raced people get elected. When George Wallace had these type elections the Feds went crazy and worked to end racism.

Today’s liberals are racist just to think that the color of the skin of a candidate or office holder is more important than quality or what the people want. Racist black or white is wrong. I thought we got rid of racists’ judges, I am wrong.

“The issue at hand is the nature of the elections, which are conducted at-large, rather than by individual districts. Superior Court Judge Mark Mooney previously ruled that the current system constitutes a violation of California’s Voting Rights Act because it hinders minorities’ ability to win public office. Despite the fact that African American and Latino residents make up 69 percent of Palmdale’s population, just one Latino has won election to the council. No African-American has done so.”

Palmdale’s November Election Delayed

California City News, 10/1/13

Palmdale’s November 5 municipal election has been brought to a screeching halt, as a Los Angeles Superior Court judge issued an injunction Monday.

The issue at hand is the nature of the elections, which are conducted at-large, rather than by individual districts. No African-American has done so.

Judge Mooney said that, in order for the election to proceed, another system must be put in place. The city has already sent out absentee ballots. But, if the injunction stands, those ballots would be obsolete.

The City of Palmdale has vowed to appeal the ruling.

“There has never been a reported case in California where a superior court judge has enjoined a regularly scheduled election five weeks before people are scheduled to go to the polls,” said Palmdale City Attorney Matthew Ditzhazy. “It strikes at the heart of our republic, directly thwarting the will of the people.”

Furthermore, according to Ditzhazy, the injunction would be counterproductive since three of the four candidates are minorities.

Palmdale is just one of many cities which have come under fire for their at-large election systems. Cities like Modesto, Compton, and Escondido have already been forced to change course. The City of Whittier will address the issue in a special election in June, following a lawsuit by Latino activists.
