Like Texas, Tennessee does not have an income tax. Want office space? In Los Angeles it is $60 a sq. ft. In Memphis it is $18 a sq. ft (not a typo). Tennessee has environmental polices based on science and economic common sense. In California our laws are based on jokes by Al Gore, junk science and radicals that hate modern society.

Texas or Tennessee—never California—if you want a quality life style and responsible government policies.

Mark Herbison, senior vice president of economic development for the Greater Memphis Chamber, said the trips tend to focus on companies that are looking to expand office, industrial or logistics operations.”

Oh, California does not have a similar outreach—since everybody in the nation knows about our taxes and crazy regulations—why waste the money telling people “come to California and lose your common sense and money.”

Greater Memphis Chamber using basketball to do business in Los Angeles

Michael Sheffield, Memphis Business Journal, 4/14/14

The Greater Memphis Chamber’s latest trip to Los Angeles coincided with the Memphis Grizzlies’ final match up against the Los Angeles Lakers. They hoped the Grizzlies’ 102-90 win over the Lakers and the results from hosting 24 real estate brokers, site consultants and corporate executives will have longer implications for the city.

Mark Herbison, senior vice president of economic development for the Greater Memphis Chamber, said the trips tend to focus on companies that are looking to expand office, industrial or logistics operations.

And the target is usually cities with higher lease rates than Memphis. For example, office space in Los Angeles for some companies could reach as high as $60 per square foot, but comparable space in Memphis would be $18 per square foot.

“We were talking to a consultant and identified a project at the game last night,” Herbison said. “We’re meeting with them today and I think we’ll come back to Memphis with a deal from that conversation.”
