Silicon Valley is beginning to feel the affects of the Obama/NSA scandal. Foreign nations and companies no longer trust American technology companies to keep their secrets. In fact, they know that America is spying on them, using Silicon Valley firms. “’Snowden Effect’ Threatens U.S. Tech Industry’s Global Ambitions”, see story here. 112211-ice seizure computer-sm

The Washington sneaks are costing Americans jobs and a future. Anybody believe Germany will buy American technology when the President refuses to turn over the NSA files on German Leader Merkel to her? Obama is doing all he can to tank the American economy and families—and he is succeeding.

“U.S. technology companies including Facebook Inc. and Google Inc. have been putting up some resistance to government-ordered data requests by alerting users when authorities target their data for confiscation, The Washington Post reported.

Tech companies now more often resist routine requests from investigators for data, including users’ email content or social media posts, even when authorities present subpoenas. Instead, they insist the government seek search warrants from a judge to obtain the information.”

Technology companies defy U.S. government by notifying users of data requests

U.S. technology companies including Facebook Inc. and Google Inc. have been putting up some resistance to government-ordered data requests by alerting users when authorities target their data for confiscation, The Washington Post reported.

Tech companies now more often resist routine requests from investigators for data, including users’ email content or social media posts, even when authorities present subpoenas. Instead, they insist the government seek search warrants from a judge to obtain the information.

The moves may indicate tech companies are trying to distance themselves from the government after leaks by former NSA contractor Edward Snowden exposed massive government Internet and phone spying programs that damaged the tech companies’ reputations and imperiled their businesses.

Firms are accepting subpoenas regarding data that’s separate from content, such as phone numbers or records showing the sender and recipient of email messages, but they are sometimes cautioning investigators that users will be informed of disclosure before they occur, according to the article.

Apple, Google, Facebook, Yahoo Inc. and Microsoft Corp. are doing that more often, unless a judge or other legal authority issues a gag order. The Justice Department issued a statement saying the new tech industry policies are threatening criminal investigations, “endangering life” and “risking destruction of evidence.”

I think that's the right thing to do. People trust these Media giants and put data on them. if the trust is being monetized then soon no one will trust any of these tycoon. It is better for the safety of everyone that we promise to keep our privacy policies in letter and spirit.
